"Quel destrier che all’albergo è vicino" Aria for voice and orchestra
sorted in:
The aria “Quel destrier che all’albergo è vicino”, KV 633 is only documented in a letter from Constanze Mozart to Breitkopf & Härtel, dated February 13, 1799. She mentions that “the original has too much value for me as to give it away” and suggests that the publishing house has the aria copied in Leipzig. In this context, the Capricci, KV 32a are also mentioned, suggesting an early date of composition; the choice of text, which stems from Pietro Metastasio’s libretto Olimpiade, also points in this direction.
