Serenade in C for 2 violins and basso
sorted in:
The Serenade in C, KV 648 has been preserved in one single source, which ascribes the composition to “Wo[l]fgang Mozart”. It is scored for 2 violins and instrumental bass and consists of seven miniature movements, including a March. The form of the author’s name as well as the style of the composition suggest a genesis before the first Italian journey, which began on December 13, 1769. Mozart’s authorship is considered very likely. It seems possible that the composition is identical with the lost Cassation in C, KV 653 or the lost Little night music, KV 41g.
