sorted in:
The Mozart family tried to escape the smallpox epidemic in Vienna in October 1767 by rushing to Olomouc, but the children had already contracted the disease. Wolfgang was even blind for a week during his illness. Joseph Wolff, physician of the Archbishop of Olomouc, took care of the patients. In a letter dated May 28, 1778, Leopold mentions an aria that Wolfgang had composed for Wolff’s daughter Nepomucena after his recovery. No details are known about this lost Aria for Nepomucena Wolff, KV 642.
